Photographs and Video Bring Your Case Alive

"Does this photograph or video fairly and accurately depict this scene?"

That is the question so often heard in court, and the question that must be kept in mind when planning and creating imagery for litigation. At the Evidence Store, we create imagery not only to preserve evidence, but with an understanding of how best to present the facts of the case.

Aerial Photography

Internet availability of aerial images has also changed this segment of legal photography and demonstrative evidence.

Many web sites are available where high quality images can be purchased and downloaded for use in pretrial and trial presentations. One must be careful to research when the photo was taken. Many people think these are "live" satellite images when, in reality, the photo may have been taken several years earlier and will not fairly and accurately represent the scene at the time of the accident.

Vehicles can be digitally retouched out of aerial photos for a clearer trial presentation.

Such images, however, can be very helpful in getting a good general sense of the overall nature and geometry of an area, especially in showing complicated intersections with multiple street, turn lanes and access ramps. When used in real estate cases, they can be used to show the typical usage of an area and, when coordinated with expert testimony as to the dates taken, can be used to argue condemnation and zoning issues, among others.
