Closed Head Injury
The presentation of a closed head injury case presents the additional problem for the trial attorney of the inability to exhibit physical injuries to the jury. It is a case that needs to be presented in the abstract by educating the jury about the microscopic anatomy of the brain in addition to the classic symptoms that lead to an accurate diagnosis. The following exhibits are recommended when presenting this injury to a jury.
Base of Head Model
This model is a good starting point for any presentation as it allows the expert to orient the jury to the placement of the brain within the head, and demonstrate the direction of the force of the impact. The brain can be removed, and the manner in which it is situated within the skull is shown.
Functional Brain Model
This giant multi-colored model of the brain demonstrates the various regions of the brain by function. It helps jurors see how the brain is divided and how the damage to a particular area will impact (pardon the pun) certain functions, consistent with the patient's/client's symptoms. The model separates into ____ parts and comes with a stand.

They show how the neurons and axons of the brain are connected, and how the twisting and shearing of these tiny links in the chain can lead to the problems as presented.
