Meet the Staff

Stephen Appelbaum
Founder, President

A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in photographic illustration, Stephen Appelbaum had worked for photographers in New York and New Jersey prior to starting the company. Moving from property damage photography for insurance companies to the area of plaintiff's personal injury cases, Appelbaum saw the need for a more complete demonstrative evidence service. He has lectured on the subject of legal photography for ICLE, several Inns of Court, and to numerous county bar associations. He has also been a platform speaker for national conventions of the Professional Photographers of America and the Evidence Photographers International Council, for whom he served as an editor of the Journal of Evidence Photography.

Alice Rigolosi
Office Manager

Alice Rigolosi, office manager, brings more than twenty-five years of experience in bookkeeping and office management to The Evidence Store. Alice’s knowledge of the Evidence Store and all its components keeps operations running smoothly.

Hernan Maldonado
Computer Graphics

Hernan is a graduate of Stockton State College having majored in visual arts with a concentration in photography. Hernan is responsible for the graphic arts and computer design department. His expertise in graphic design allows him to tackle any request that may come to the Evidence Store.

Juan Rosado
Senior Courtroom Technician / Production Manager

Juan Rosado is a graduate of the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art. Juan brings a strong background in both fine and mechanical drawing. In addition to providing technical skills in the courtroom, Juan is responsible for making sure all work is completed and on schedule.

David Sherman
Photographer / Production Assistant

With many years of professional photography experience, he specialized in technical and event photography. In addition to David’s photographic skills he provides assistance to the Courtroom Technician and serves as the production assistant responsible for making sure all work is completed and on schedule. As a resident of Staten Island, David’s responsibilities also include marketing and keeping our Staten Island clients informed of all the services offered by The Evidence Store.

Curt Perone
Medical Illustrator

Curt is a graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has a Masters degree in Medical Illustration along with extensive experience in the medical-legal field. He has created surgical illustrations and animations for the dentistry field in addition to designing covers and editorial illustrations for various journals. Curt's specialty is creating 3-D animations and has prepared art for surgical simulators used for medical training and improving patient safety. He is proficient in both Macintosh and Windows platforms using all the current state-of-the-art software to complete your assignments.

Alison Von Dollen
Medical Illustrator

Alison is a graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a BA in Medical Illustration. Her expertise in this field includes a specialty in x-ray color interpretations, providing our clients with outstanding courtroom exhibits that will enhance any doctor's testimony. Alison has developed an interactive digital presentation used for the Staten Island Ferry litigation in New York (see home page) and is currently developing new presentation options for attorneys to use for both pre-trial and courtroom use. Her key strength is getting attorneys to identify what will help communicate effectively to a jury. If you can verbalize it, Alison will visualize it.

Rick Sargent
Medical Illustrator

Rick Sargent received his Master of Science Degree in Medical Illustration from the Medical College of Georgia. After graduation, he went to work for the Hughston Sports Medicine Hospital where he received an Award of Merit from the Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He went on to become Board Certified from the Association of Medical Illustrators. Rick has been with the Evidence Store as an illustrator, animator and consult for attorneys.

Lynn Grant-Abrevaya
Paralegal

Lynn comes to the Evidence Store with over 20 years experience as a paralegal in areas including personal injury, matrimonial, medical malpractice, legal malpractice and fraud. Having been responsible for trial preparation for both defense and plaintiff’s counsel, she is very much aware of the need for organized presentation, whether it be at a settlement conference or trial. She has a Masters of Social Work degree form Fordham University and her experience in medical/hospital settings gives her the additional skill of being able to read and digest medical records in preparation for creating our trial exhibits. Her responsibilities also include client outreach and marketing, keeping attorneys informed of all the services offered by The Evidence Store.

Alex Heyfets
Computer Technician / Network Administrator

Alex is a long time associate of the Evidence Store with a history of over 30 years. Alex’s expertise in computers keeps our systems up to date so that our clients can be assured all work is processed with accuracy and reliability. Alex is also an expert forensic photographic and video lab technician.
